Local History

If you are researching the history of a house, a street or a community in England or Wales, the catalogues in the A2A database will be a valuable source of information.

You can find catalogue references to a particular place by typing a keyword (or phrase) into the box on the main Search page. It is possible to search for variant spellings (eg Hanborough, Handborough) and help is provided on this feature. Remember that A2A catalogues do not contain words and phrases like local history or topography. If you type words and phrases like these into the search box you probably will not get useful results.

You can go to the People, Places and Subjects page (follow the link on the Search page) to find whole catalogues which are rich in information about a place or places - and which describe archives which will be particularly useful for research into the history of that area.
