Academics

Undergraduate students, postgraduate students and academic researchers - in history and in other disciplines - will find the A2A database useful for their studies and research projects.

You can go to the People, Places and Subjects page (follow the link in the menu on the left of this page) to find whole catalogues of archives which are rich in information on people, families, organisations, places or subjects. Current A2A strengths include: the history of the British in India and Britain's relationships with the wider world beyond Europe; science and politics in the 19th and 20th centuries; local government and the administration of justice in the English and Welsh counties in the 16th-20th centuries; and the history of railway companies in England and Wales. Links to contact details are available from each catalogue, so you can get in touch with the repository where the archives are held for more information or to order copies.

You can also find references to particular people, organisations, places or subjects mentioned in catalogues by typing a keyword (or phrase) into the box on the main Search page.
