Did you watch Who do you think you are? on BBC2?
Overview
A2A is a useful resource for family historians looking for references to
their ancestors in catalogues of the archives held in record offices and other places in England and Wales.
You should bear the following points in mind when you are using the database for family history
research.
You can find references to a particular name or place in A2A catalogues by
typing a keyword (or phrase) into the box on the main Search page.
Remember that A2A catalogues often do not contain words and phrases like
birth certificate or genealogy or family history or immigration or service record. If you type
words and phrases like these into the search box you probably will not get useful results.
You might like to try the People, Places and Subjects page (follow the link on the
Search page) to find (for example) catalogues of the family archives of named families, or
catalogues of archives relating to the study of genealogy as a subject - but bear in mind that
catalogues you find in this way may be of limited use for your own family history research.
